P>M Purifier of Water (formerly known as PUR) is a single packet of powder which contains both coagulants and chlorine to disinfect and reduce the turbidity of 10 liters of water. When mixed with water, first the coagulant allows suspended particles to join together and settle at the bottom of the container which can be filtered out by filtering the water through a cloth. Then, timed chlorine release kills remaining pathogens. The process takes 30 minutes and the treated water contains residual-free chlorine to protect against recontamination.
