GrainMate

GrainMate is a handheld portable grain moisture content meter. It consists of a body and a detachable moisture probe that attaches to the body through a telephone cable. The probe is detachable and can be interchanged between handheld devices.

The body has three buttons to control the meter as well as an LCD display that displays the results. One can use the control buttons to switch on and off and to select the type of grain you have chosen to measure. The LCD screen displays the temperature of the grain, the relative humidity, the moisture content of the grain, and the type of grains you have chosen to measure.

There are several different types of grains whose moisture can measure using the meter. These include maize, soybeans, rice, sorghum, wheat, and cowpeas. Grains need to send at least two hours in the storage bag before the reading is taken.

To take a reading, the moisture probe is inserted into the bag, taking care to insert it as close as possible to the middle of the bag. You then wait for five minutes before taking the reading.
