Hydrokinetic Turbine

DesignPro Renewables

DesignPro Renewables Hydrokinetic Turbine is a tidal hydrokinetic turbine that can float on rivers and estuary with capacity of 25kW and 60kW that enable users to harness clean, predictable energy.

Product description Brand name and product description

The DesignPro Renewables hydrokinetic turbine is manufactured by an Irish company called DesignPro Renewables. It is designed to harness the kinetic energy from flowing water found in rivers and estuaries. The turbine generates clean, renewable energy from flowing water. The concept of the device exploits the natural phenomenon that occurs when flowing water comes into contact with an object or obstruction. By using such an obstacle as part of the design, water is compressed and accelerates as it is diverted out and around the bluff body. DesignPro Renewables’ technology involves two vertical axis turbines placed on each side of a teardrop shaped vessel. The vessel, coupled with the blade pitch control system, speeds up the water into the turbines to produce significant energy in low flows of water, according to DesignPro.
