Aeration Technology
WERL University of Toronto
The device is designed to improve oxygen supply in fish ponds to boost survivability and yield of the stock.
The Aeration technology device is designed to run on solar power and is equipped with a heat collector unit and a pipe that transfers heat to the oxygen depleted bottom, inducing convective water circulation. The heated water sides and mixes the pond, spreading oxygen-rich water from the top through the entire depth of the pond. It is integrated with a smart device allowing farmers to monitor oxygen condition in order to perform the needed intervention.
The product is designed by students at the Water and Energy Research Laboratory (WERL).
The product is currently being researched in Bangladesh, however the designer aims to enter European and Pacific regions.
